Meet Rachel - the Artist Behind Puffin Prints

Hi, I'm Rachel - a self-taught artist based on the beautiful island of Anglesey in North Wales, and the person behind every single Puffin Print.

I've been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember, but Puffin Prints began in a rather unexpected place: Lancaster University, where I was studying Theoretical Physics! I painted Paddlin' Puffin as a birthday gift for my Mum, because puffins symbolised home to me. She loved it, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Growing up, I used to sail around Puffin Island, racing over the waves and trying to spot puffins and seals in the sea. The coast has always been my happy place - never predictable, ever changing and endless fascinating. My love for the sea and daily coastal walks with my dog Finley inspire everything I make.

How It's Made

Every piece of artwork you see on Puffin Prints starts with me, a paintbrush,  a whole lot of coffee and a clock that probably tells a time later than midnight... I hand-paint each original design, and all products are proudly made in the UK - either by me in my studio on Anglesey, or by small, family-run businesses I've worked with for years.

My mounted prints are printed by me, to order, onto archival fine art acid-free paper. I hand-sign every print in pencil before mounting it with a cream bevel-edged mount - then back and seal it before sending it straight to you. If you'd like custom wording on any print, just leave me a note at checkout and I'll make it one of a kind, at no extra charge.

A Little Help from Finley

I'm also assisted (mostly in the form of distraction) by Finley - Chief of Work Break Walkies and official Customer Communications dog. He takes his role very seriously. Joking aside though, he makes sure (whether I like it or not) that we go to the beach every single day, and this always resets my nervous system and leads me back to my canvas.

Let's Stay in Touch

I share behind-the-scenes peeks at my creative process, new work, and yes - probably quite a lot of Finley - over on Instagram. Come say hello at @puffinprints.

Or if you'd like occasional updates, new prints and Rachel's ramblings delivered to your inbox, join the newsletter - I promise I'm too disorganised to spam you!
